This is what it's all about......two mega-tough days of approx. 100 miles each day. See the previous route maps below, expect a similar mix of wild scenery and roads for 2021.....
There is ample, free parking at the HQ for you to be able to leave your cars there for the weekend. At registration we will collect your overnight bag which we will transport to the accommodation at the university of Aberystwyth.
On arrival there we will swap your bike for your bag and keep it until you set off again the next day. Accommodation at the university is in individual rooms with a shared bathroom for each corridor. Bedding and towels are provided.
We will provide a hot buffet style evening meal and breakfast which is in a dining hall a short walk from the rooms. In the morning we will swap your bag for your bike and do it all again. On arrival back at HQ there will be hot food provided.

CAN I DO IT?
Thinking about riding the TwoTonTour? Well YOU CAN! It's well within the reach of any fit and determined rider. BUT, you'll need to put in some hard work and prepare properly - don't underestimate this challenge. The ride is over two days and the route passes through some remote and relentless terrain, with no mobile phone signal through parts of the route.
JUST HOW HARD IS IT?
Well here are some simple statistics:
Stage 1 – 100 miles, ~8,000 ft of climbing.
Stage 2 – 100 miles, ~7,500 ft of climbing.
HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO ENTER?
We have a minimum age limit of 18. There is no maximum age for entry!
WHAT SIZE OVERNIGHT BAG SHOULD I BRING?
You will need to bring a single piece of hand luggage as your overnight bag. We recommend that the luggage is equivalent to standard airline hand luggage requirements.
WHAT EXTRA CLOTHING SHOULD I BRING?
You will need to bring clothing to change into when you finish the ride on Day 1 and cycling gear for Day 2.
WHAT DO I DO WITH MY OVERNIGHT BAG?
When you sign on at the HQ on Day 1 we will take your overnight bag, label it and put it straight into the event transport. We will take your baggage to the finish for you. When you arrive at the finish and check-in your overnight bag will be returned to you.
WHERE DO I LEAVE THE CAR?
There is ample parking at HQ to leave your car overnight. However, we cannot accept responsibility for any damage to or theft from vehicles parked overnight so they are left entirely at the owner’s risk.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT THE FEED STATIONS?
There will be 3 feed stations on the ride on each day which will be well stocked with sweet and savoury food plus energy drink and water to top up your bottles. The technical support and first aid support vehicles will also carry some water should it be required en-route.
WHAT DO I DO WITH MY BIKE OVERNIGHT?
When you check-in at the finish on Day 1 we will exchange your bike for your overnight baggage and your room key. We have dedicated use of the university's bike store which will be manned at all times (COVID update - hoping to have all accommodation on ground floor where bikes can be taken into rooms). For added peace of mind we suggest you bring along a bike lock in your luggage. Insurance of the bike remains the responsibility of the rider/ owner at all times.
DO I NEED TO BRING ANY BEDDING & LINEN?
No. Bedding is provided with your room for the night. Each room will also be provided with a medium sized towel.
WHERE CAN I GET A SHOWER AFTER THE RIDE?
There are shared bathrooms with the rooms where you will be able to get showered and cleaned up after your day in the saddle. Sorry, no showers available at the Ludlow HQ.
WHAT MEALS ARE INCLUDED IN THE EVENT?
As well as the feed stations during the ride, the event entry fee includes an evening meal (there will be menu choices with a vegetarian/ vegan option) and breakfast on Sunday morning before you set off. Breakfast is either a Continental style or full hot breakfast.
There is a bar on campus which will be open for you during the evening. A great opportunity to share your tales from the day, but sadly the drinks are not on us.
There will also be a simple but hot meal provided when you finish the ride on Day 2.
WHAT SUPPORT IS THERE WHILST ON THE ROUTE?
Riders are to ensure their bike is roadworthy before they arrive and must largely be self-sufficient in the case of minor mechanical incidents such as punctures. As a minimum we recommend that you should carry at least two spare inner tubes, tyre levers and a working pump, together with a simple multi-tool, ideally including a chain-splitter.
REMEMBER this is a two day event so it is worth packing some spares in your overnight luggage should things like inner tubes get used on Day 1.
For more serious mechanical failures, there will be a broom wagon/mobile mechanic van that will be able to provide assistance.
There will also be mobile first aid en-route during the event.
CAN MY FRIEND DRIVE ROUND AND GIVE ME DRINKS OR SUPPORT?
No following (or leading) cars or motor cycles are allowed.
WILL THE EVENT BE TIMED?
The event will not be timed. The ethos of the event is about the personal challenge of completing it, meeting like minded cyclists whilst doing it and sharing a great cycling experience together.
Due to the ongoing COVID situation we are offering a no-risk refund policy. If we have to cancel at any point then we will refund your entry fee less our transaction costs of £2. If you chose to withdraw your entry at any time up to 1st June 2021 then we will also refund your entry fee less our transaction costs of £2. Withdrawals between 2nd and 25th June 2021 will receive a 50% refund as we will start to incur irrecoverable costs. Refunds will not be possible for withdrawals after 26th June 2021.
